When I was a teen, I loved R.L. Stein and Christopher Pike. They were pretty suspenseful back then, and I remember the books fondly. I still read them every now and then.

You may also like Terry Prachett, who writes the Discworld series of books. Very, very funny books.

Paul Zindel has "The Pig Man" which is a good book, plus a prequel that came later and a sequel. The Sequel is my favorite because it advances the relationship of the boy and girl you meet in "The Pig Man".

I love Meg Cabot and Sophie Kinsella's books. I am in the process of reading Emily Giffin's books. They are all great authors!

For I teen I recommend Meg Cabot's young adult books. She is the best author. Also best selling. She wrote tons of books including the Princess Diaries (Movies based on her books), Mediator (upcoming movie), 1-800-Missing (TV show based on her books), Jinx, and more. She has adult books too, so you can grow with her.
