Jeff Bezos and Bestselling Authors Discuss Amazon Kindle Review by liquidPalindrome, August 6, 2009
Jesus, they even want to do away with books now. I’m not an old fart, and I work with technology, but taking the tactile experience of reading away and staring at an LED screen is a shame. The texture of the pages, etc. is an experience. Pretty soon they’ll want us to use a digital device just to take a ****.
I can just see these morons saying that one day there will be a kindle in every classroom in america, and how it’s cheaper than keeping books in the library and having to pay a librarian.

the video is helpful and realistic about the Kindle..I have one and have been very satisfied compared to the other electronic book I tried..just read “Justifiable Homicide” by Aughinbaugh on Kindle …a good read about a heavy subject..plenty of satire and self revelation

think about this: Self publishing PDFs for authors.
no longer will some salesman at a big publisher squash a great book for fear that the P&L is too risky. No more of the tyrany of the buyers at Boarders and B&N deciding what the rest of us should be reading. This format if it takes off could be a real blessing for authors… if they can just find a way to get paid for their work.
still… i’ll sorely miss those few independent book stores that are left

You can e-mail pdfs to amazon and either have them e-mailed back in kindle format or sent directly to the kindle for 10 cents. It does a pretty decent job converting them based on what I tried. The images even showed up.

I love the concept, it truly is incredible. But I feel there is no natural place to rest my hands or hold the device without accidentally pressing a button (especially the next and previous page).
Also a cheaper model without the wireless should be made available, a lot of international costumers without the EVDO availability could make use of the product to the full potential of what they purchase.
